REMEMBERING

I watched the precious light fade behind the tree
with passionate faith that only one could taste and see

others stood by listening with reluctance and despair
waiting with a notion, understanding the reason we were there

a volunteer to climb and descend within her hand
that which will bring forth a change to this barren land

this ancient being that looms before the mass
holds so much essentiality

the love and passion that exists within
is foreign to the ones below this wondrous tree

scaling this great Life with attentiveness and heed
remembering to be gentle, ready to concede

the weight of the world rests on this feeble soul
to speak on behalf of the young and old

we don't deserve your forgiveness she rehearses in the mind
we don't deserve your patience, a second chance would be divine

we don't deserve your love or the placidity you provide
we don't deserve your nourishment or the acceptance that we've tried

reaching the crown she's prepared herself for the worst
knowing the pain caused by the mass of the accursed

from altruistic eyes tears abound
this remorseful child has suddenly found

a way in which to express the pain she bears
a loving way to show she undoubtfully cares

sitting within the canopy, everything breathing with essence
she dedicates her being to this Ancient Presence

below the mass waits impatiently for a sign of her return
eager to retreat to their life without concern

the faint knowledge they hold of her choice to be whole
exists in their words that continue to unfold

as she nears the ground they anxiously await
hoping she brings an answer to their ill fate

with sincerity evident in her voice, her words planned
change your ways and give back to this Great Land

everywhere around you these Majestic Old Growths give
from their adorning arms we should appreciate and together live

rise to meet the day when the Old Growths abound and remain
and the future of our children will be prosperous and sustained

What will I say?

What will I say to my child when she questions the ways of man?

Will I blindly turn an eye or tell her to take my hand?

I can show her so much through detailed words as her teacher.

I can show her more by placing her hand on a tree’s withered features.

Beginning with “Once we were strong”, the amazement which captured souls,

To breathe in a sweet song and dance merrily with the august Old.

To run and play with nature, full of serenity and delight,

To rest comfortably under a Great Elder surrounded by timeless night.

Before uttering a word, you trusted in what you were taught,

Leaning on the strength of Nature in everything you sought.

Respecting the Abundant-Green Earth, and receiving all you need,

Acquiring only that which is essential, foreign to greed.

Walking through a forest breathing and flourishing by design,

Sharing, loving, giving, appreciating, valuing with an approachable mind.

On this Earth, My child, some will senselessly ravage the terrain,

Taking what does not belong to them, in hopes of some monetary gain.

Your heart may agonize over their meaningless acts,

Tears may streak your face,

But never allow the ways of man to extinguish your love,

For the LIFE of this Great Place!

Nature is alive and well
obvious enough to see through
clear transparent squares
grass, flowers, beautiful sky,
accompanied by unwelcomed man made toys
Coming back down, I'm in time
to witness dying souls
I feel the pain of death all too soon
Too innocent
Agonizing screams which go unheard by those
who choose to ignore their roots
I go back up beyond all I know and tell God
my concerns
For a land that does not belong to us
we have misused, abused and selfishly disrespected our welcome
Always care enough to leave your window open
